Egypt police arrest several opposition members

Brotherhood Deputy Leader Mahmoud Izzat, and digit members of the group''s activity council -- Issam Al-Aryan and Abdelrahman Al-Barr -- were arrested around 1 a.m. Monday, the sources said. The Islamic Brotherhood is illegal because the Afrasian property deems religious-based semipolitical organizations illegal. The polity allows it to operate but often cracks down on the group. The organization''s Web site says polity arrested 5,032 members terminal year; most were after released. Parliamentary elections are planned for after this year, and analysts believe the polity is hot to lessen the assemble before candidature begins.
